So what did you think of the teams performance in the first test against India?

I was disappointed, I thought Pakistan with blast them out of the park playing at home.

I'm from Victoria. I live South of Melbourne in a place called Frankston.

So, you're not saying the Pakistan boys threw this match surely?

From what I watched of the first test, the Pakistan team was outplayed at every turn.

The Indians seemed totally determined to crush them and show once and for all that they are the better team.

I simply couldn't imagine the Pakistanis letting the Indians win at anything!

Personally, I like the look of both these teams.

India still needs that strike bowler, but are finally looking like they may have found him in Pathan. I was very impressed with his performance. I don't need to say much about the batting line-up. I'd be hard pressed to make up a squad like that in a design-your-own-player cricket simulator. Very impressive. Nevertheless, a world-class strike bowler would put them up that one notch to really compete on Australia's level, but then again, MOST countries could do with that right now. The newest team claiming to have potentially solved that problem is England. Once all the ballyhoo and crowing is over, we'll see how that all holds up against teams with more class and experience. Gloat on, English media...

As for Pakistan, man, I'm always crossing my fingers, and more often than not coming up empty. I will never understand how such an abundance of talent can be so horribly squandered. In Pakistan, even when you PERFORM, you get tossed aside. Don't get me wrong. I love this team. Gul looked impressive, and Shoaib and (to a lesser extent so far) Sami can be quite fearsome. I've always been a big Youhana fan, and Inzi was his masterful (if sluggish) best. But the team needs three things:

1. Selectorial consistency. This is improving, but still needs work.
2. A captain worth his salt. Inzi is a brilliant batsman, but when his team takes the field he looks like a bloated scarecrow, lurking about the field in a persistent daze.
3. No more harping from previous internationals. Okay, we get it. Pakistan has problems. The sooner you all shut up, the sooner the team can start worrying about cricket instead of the ghosts of the past. Inzi may not be a great captain, but he makes some astute comments.

Hi Marauding!i liked your comments about Pakistani Cricket team!!!thank you!!! smile.gif

Umm the three things...well i cant say anything about it\!!i hope that these problems should be solved!!

Hi,

I fail to understand how one can call this present pakistan rabble a "team" . They seem to be a bunch of boys out of their depth. Pakistan needs to wake up to the reality of modern cricket. They seem to think that talent alone is enough to make a successful team. Talent has to be nurtured along with professionalism - the latter of which noone in the PCB has any clue as to what it means. We need a captain who does not have a single figure IQ and coache(s) to match. Consistency is an attribute of a good team, we do not have it and have not had it for avery very long time and I see little to instill hope that this will indeed change. Maybe a thrashing by India, full creditto them, may help put some change into place. The indian team has been far more professional in their play and have a better cricketing team brain. They are a MUCH better side at present and deserve to win.
a very disappointed pak fan.

How can a Pakistani fan possibly be disappointed with this series? If you've been following the team for a few years you'll know that we always play like crap so this is the average level of performance for Pakistan at the moment.

Sure every now and then you'll see them gel and destroy teams for a couple of matches but that's only to try and fool us fans into thinking things have changed this time round. I make a concerted effort to expect absolutely nothing from Pakistan teams nowadays and it's going to take something special indeed to make me change my mind.

Where are you from??Do you know something about Cricket and Cricket team???

luckily from not where you are from. I think you need to ask yourself that very same question. Pak are Banned Word and have been for a very long time. We never learn from our mistakes, so I have to agree with Big Mac, it has been a sorry situation for a long time but a gutless one too? well that is more recent i think. I gues I want to sometimes fool myself into believing that they may come round but I guess one has to wake up to reality. Having No expectations is the best way forward.

ghulam, you are obviously upset about Pakistan's poor performance against India, and rightly so.

Therefore, I would like to know what your solutions to the problems at hand are. What do you propose Pakistan does in the next year or two to rectify its woes? Where do you think the talent that is obviously available is going astray, and how can this be fixed? What would have to be done before you can start actually HAVING expectations again?

This is all very interesting to me, since Pakistan is my third favorite international team, after South Africa and the West Indies.

Posted by: Shahid-Afridi Apr 17 2004, 11:32 PM

I think ghulam is from India!!The Indians often say such things about Pakistan...but we dont!!
We love evryone every TALENT!!!We respect the teams and players..we love even the Indian team!!!and cuz this series was a friendship series....our moto is
India is the BEst and so is Pakistan!Love and be loved!!
So gulaam leave this comments now!!Please turn to Love and respect!!

Thank You!
Bye!

Hey you got a nice choice smile.gif Can i ask you where are you from?

Anyway

I heard that Pakistani team is going to India in october or november??Is that right??They are going to play 6 matches!!!

Posted by: Big Mac Apr 20 2004, 10:11 PM

I think it's going to be this time next year, last I heard they hadn't confirmed how many matches would be played however

Posted by: mindgames Apr 22 2004, 07:13 PM

Shahid-Afridi....are you the real shahid afridi?

Prolly not, you would outsmart him hands down..!! biggrin.gif

Anyways, this series didnt turn out to be as closely fought as it was predicted to be, i guess as is widely discussed, discipline and professionalism was the difference between the 2 sides.

Talent-wise i think pakistan is very similar to india, all pakistan need at the moment is to play as a team and not merely like a bunch of talented individuals. Rather than looking for scapegoats in the form of Akhtar, Inzy and a few others, they should look to consolidate and build their team eyeing the long-term prospects.

Certainly, expecting the india-pak series next year as something of the order of india-aus series is a mouth-watering prospect, hope it turns out that way..!!

Posted by: Shahid-Afridi Apr 24 2004, 08:05 AM

No mindgames...i am just his fan! smile.gif

Well the latest new i heard is

In August 2004 Pakistan and India are going to play in Holland!!!

Posted by: Big Mac Apr 24 2004, 10:29 AM

You are correct, it's going to be a triangular tournament in the Amstelveen Stadium in Amsterdam between Pakistan, Australia and India.

Posted by: Shahid-Afridi Apr 26 2004, 08:32 PM

Woww!!Thats nice..i m going to watch it live in stadium!!! biggrin.gif
