Australia Lead New ICC One Day Championship

The dominating position of the Australian team in world cricket, is once again confirmed by their top position in the new ICC One Day Championship Table.

Introduced by the governing body of world cricket, the International Cricket Council, the One Day Championship will further compliment the earlier introduction of the ICC Test Championship, which has been dominated by the Australians since its inception in May 2001.

Both initiatives have been introduced in order to add further interest and excitement to the current Test and One Day competitions played worlwide and are expected to stimulate the ongoing interest of fans, who are now able to measure the rated performance of their favourite teams.

In a manner similar to the current ICC Test Championship, it is expected the One Day Championship Table, will be up-dated and refreshed at the conclusion of each One Day International Series, beginning with the seven match India v West Indies ODI Series on November 6.

Current ICC One Day Championship rankings are based on the results from all One Day matches played since August 2000.
